Purchasing Item Banks

For those districts purchasing a platform, are you purchasing an Item Bank to get you started or will you populate the platform with locally created items prior to any grant produced items becoming available?

My latest question is regarding the district purchase of test platforms and scanners. What position is your district taking? Do you already have a local testing infrastructure in place? Are you relying on the state to provide a platform that will meet the needs of your district?

Here is a question I was just asked today. I told the person I was speaking with that I would ask the experts!
We in Bay District are most likely NOT going to purchase a test platform, but instead wait for the state to deliver what they have indicated we will have access to use by 2014-2015. As  districts are planning for the test implementation of 2014-2015, what other expenses are you anticipating or considering as you determine your budget needs?

Getting Started

After the latest CFAC Meeting, Heather and I discussed how many questions go unanswered, and how many more discussions we could have, given more time together. Fact gathering and hearing how other districts are meeting the challenges of SB 736 and the Student Success Act are beneficial to us all.

I'll get the ball rolling with a burning question I have:

How are your districts handling Adult Education courses? Industry certifications for CTE courses are available for some courses and the focus is on high school students in these courses. Are other districts approaching the assessments for adult learners in the same manner?
